B&D Series Shifter


 
Shortly after the release of our Billet RSX Shifter we started to receive several inquiries about making a similar shifter for the B and D series engines. At first we were a little hesitant, but after some thought, we remembered that we actually made a prototype several years ago. So we got it out, made a few changes, and produced a couple more prototypes for testing and feedback purposes. Testing went very well and the response to our photos was also excellent so we decided it was time to make this product available.
 
 

The K-Tuned B & D Series Shifter was designed with full adjustability in mind. The shifter pivot ball is height adjustable, shifter height is adjustable and the offset elbow of the shifter can be rotated to several different positions. The adjustable pivot ball allows the user to thread the pivot ball higher up on the shift rod to shorten shift throw if desired. Construction is as expected, only high quality materials are used to ensure the shifter will last. We used 100% stainless steel with the lone exception being the offset elbow, which is made from billet aluminum. All hardware, spacers and allen keys for adjustment are included in our kit. This is a great shifting upgrade for any B or D series engine setup.

A/C & P/S Eliminator Kit

The K-Tuned A/C & P/S Eliminator Kit has been one of our best sellers for several years now. We are now releasing our 3rd revision of this pulley kit and again we have made a few changes to make our product even better. Taking a quick look back, we were the first company to offer this original design and we remain the only manufacturer that is using a dual pulley design that offers perfect belt alignment and stability, unlike some of the other the knock-off designs that are available. Another plus to our kit is that all the parts are constructed from billet aluminum, while others are still using cheaper plastic parts.

 

 

 

We always wanted to make our kit completely universal and have it setup to work with a 7-rib belt, just like oem. We are now pleased to say we did just that. The problem we had in the past was accessory belt manufacturers simply didn’t carry the belt size that we needed. To solve this issue, we had a stronger, custom length 7-rib belt made specifically for our kit. This move finally allowed us to make our kit 100% universal. So now, if you have a K20, K24 or even an engine that is put together with a mix of parts, there will be no fitment issues at all, they can all use the same kit.

 

 

 

The K-Tuned A/C & P/S Eliminator Kit deletes A/C, P/S and the factory belt tensioner from the engine. The alternator is then relocated lower and moves to the original A/C location, to increase clearance on even the tightest K-swap chassis. This part is particularly useful for EF K-swaps because it offers some much needed headlight clearance. If you want, you can even cut off the mounting tab that was used for the original tensioner. Doing this, allows ITB’s and custom intake manifolds to be fitted very easily.

Race-Spec Shifter Cables

To go along with our popular Billet RSX Shifter Box we are pleased to offer our K-Tuned Race-Spec Shifter Cables and Trans Bracket set.  This is another part that many of our vendors and customers asked us to make, so here they are.  Our cables are a super strong and stretch resistant replacement for the weaker and failure prone oem 02-04 RSX-S cables.  The overall length is the same as oem and they are compatible with all oem and K-Tuned Shifter boxes, as well as many other aftermarket shifter box options.  Our cables are also more flexible than oem cables and feature the fit and finish that you have come to expect from K-Tuned products.

 

 

 

 

K-Tuned Race-Spec-Shifter Cables are made almost entirely of stainless steel, including the very important inner cable and all of the exposed cable guides.  The outer cable is constructed with a low friction Teflon coated inner liner and a heat resistant polyethylene outer covering.  Even the cable mounting ends are made from stainless steel and were designed with a threaded section to eliminate the need for the oem cable clips.  However, take note that the oem clips can still be used if desired.  Last are the rod end connections, these are fully adjustable and made from 6061 billet aluminum at all four ends.  We made one minor adjustment at the gear selector, here we are still using a billet rod end, but we added a spherical Delrin insert to allow proper movement at this joint.  Allowing this movement helps reduce possible cable bind during shifting.  There is even a bonus, because we have also included our Billet Cable Bracket to make this a complete package. Shifter Cable Trans Bracket

We have had the idea to make a nice replacement Shifter Cable Bracket for quite some time now. While we were developing our Billet RSX Shifter and our Race Shifter Cables, it made sense for us to work on a cable bracket at the same time. After testing a few prototypes of different materials, we couldn’t get the bracket to look the way we wanted. In the end, we decided to get it made with 6061 billet aluminum on the CNC machine. The bracket can be mounted on all RSX, EP3 and Civic SI transmissions. It is designed to be used with any oem or aftermarket 2002-2004 RSX-S shifter and cables. The bracket can even be used on the newer 2006-2011 Civic SI (K20Z3) 6 speed transmission as long as a 2002-2006 RSX-S shift selector is also being used. Included with the bracket is 3 spacers needed for some of the different transmission options and 3 mounting bolts. Now you can replace the rusted out factory bracket with a nice anodized billet bracket that will last.

K-Tuned "Function Form" Shift Knob

 

The K-Tuned Billet Shift Knob is the result of quite a bit of customer and racer feedback. We already offer several K-Series shifter upgrades so it was definitely time for us to develop a clean and functional shift knob. The process begins with a solid billet bar of 6061 aluminum, and each knob is machined to final size on a CNC lathe. After the lathe, the blank knobs are sent out for the anodizing process. The black is hard anodized and the silver is a regular anodize. During the final step, each knob is chucked up on a 4-Axis CNC mill to precision cut in the unique grid pattern that was designed to improve shifter grip. This final step is so critical that we actually have a 5% scrap rate. On cable shifter setup we found that a weighted knob can cause shifting problems for some drivers because the neutral return spring has to work harder to pull the shifter back to the center. So instead of going to the heavy side we found a good weight (5.5 oz) that is just enough to allow confident and accurate shifting while still keeping enough weight to help the front to back shifts. Shift knobs are finished in your choice of black or silver with our K-Tuned logo on two sides. On top we engraved our signature “K” logo. A custom made jam nut is included to keep the knob locked in place. This knob is a great way to finish off any shifter setup.

Billet RSX Shifter Box
No more sloppy 2nd or 3rd!

 

The K-Tuned Billet RSX Shifter Box is a direct replacement for the oem 2002-2006 RSX-S shifter box which can also be used in many K-swapped cars.  The box has been designed to work with both factory and aftermarket shifter cables.  If you are currently using an oem shifter box you are probably already familiar with the excessive “play” or “looseness” that is found in the factory plastic box setup.  Our full billet design is extremely strong and designed to eliminate any flex or movement of the shifter unit.

Our Billet Shifter Arm is integrated and has been redesigned to make fine adjustments to the spread of the “H” shift pattern.  Essentially this feature allows the user to widen the spacing between 1st, 3rd and 5th gear. Note that 2nd, 4th, 6th and reverse gears will also be spread apart when adjusted.  We have also developed a proper short shifter option that won’t damage or break the cable guides.  This is accomplished by making the shifter cable mounting point adjustable to correct the angle at the cable connection.  The shift lever and shifter ball are made from solid stainless steel and seated in a spring loaded brass socket.  This combination of stainless and brass allows the two materials to lap together while the springs push up and eliminate “play” at the ball.  The lever is fully adjustable in height and offset rotation.  Height can be adjusted up to 2” taller or shorter than stock and there is an amazing 90 different offset positions.

The Billet RSX Shifter has two different sets of mounting holes on the base so it can be easily bolted into several applications.  Mounted into a 2002-2006 RSX (outer holes) and it will still fit perfectly below the RSX center console.  It can also be used on most K-swapped cars that are using some type of shifter mounting kit (outer holes used again).  However, it also has a set of inner holes that will allow it to be installed directly on top of the interior exhaust tunnel without the need for a mounting plate.  In an EF/EG/DC2/EK the inner set of holes at the back of the shifter line up with the holes used for the factory D or B-series shift linkage.  Shave down the lip for the shift boot and drill 2 more holes for the front and you’re done.  We don’t think there is anything that we missed during development.  We will let you tell us how we did…

K-Tuned Billet TPS Sensor V2
Revised, plug-and-play design.

The K-Tuned V2 Billet TPS Sensor features a revised design that is a direct plug in to the factory engine harness. We also added slotted holes to allow a much simpler manual adjustment. No more rewiring or computer calibration is needed because the slotted holes allow the sensor to be scaled properly on all cars, even cars using unmodified factory ecus. The TPS unit is constructed with an oem quality sensor that is encapsulated in a billet aluminum housing. The housing is designed with a special silicone filled pocket to absorb the engine vibrations that typically ruin other sensors.

We’ve seen and read about the cheap Asian-made TPS units causing countless drivability problems and failures and in some cases even oem sensors have failed prematurely. These problems and failures are exactly what motivated us to design a truly reliable aftermarket TPS replacement. As with all our products, successful real world testing was completed on several cars to ensure that our TPS unit could withstand the vibration associated with semi-solid K-series swap mounts. We are so confident in our design that we are even offering a 1 year no hassle repair warranty.

The TPS can be installed on any K20A/A2 and Z1 throttlebody or the A3 throttlebody from the Honda EP3 hatchback. It also fits several aftermarket TB’s. Make heatsoak a thing of the past

Everyone who has ever stuck their hand in the engine bay after a run will know the cylinder head gets quite hot when your engine is running. The purpose of these gaskets is to break the transfer of heat between the cylinder head and the intake manifold and throttlebody to create lower incoming air temps. As air heats up, it’s density drops, reducing oxygen content, robbing you of power because your ecu has to compensate with less fuel. On average, you lose about 1% of density for every 5 degrees farenheit of increased temp!

Heatsoak is a thing of the past when you get one of these installed on your motor.
An added bonus is these gaskets are also re-usable. So you won’t have to buy expensive oem Honda gaskets whenever you do some work on your car.

Shifter Base Plate
This shifter base plate allows the install of your RSX Type-S or after market shifter box without cutting a hole in the shifter tunnel. This is also the preferred alternative for racers, since this method of install leaves plenty of room for big exhausts and it mounts the shifter higher in the vehicle, closer to the driver and the steering. The shifter base plate also allows you to run your shifter cables inside the car, and out through the heater hose hole in the firewall. This method, however does clear interior panels or center consoles.
 As a long time supporter of R-Crew, the original designer of this item, we were very sad to learn they had to close the doors on their business. Without an alternative, customers turned to us with the request we make our own version.
K20Z3 Trans Conversion Kit
Making newer swaps work for you

K-Tuned has developed a new Shifter Mounting Plate kit to use with the 06+ Civic SI (K20Z3) transmission in a swap application. In the past, this trans has been a bit of a pain to use because the shift selector and bracket work opposite from the original  RSX Type –S design. The original fix for this was to change all the shifting related parts including the expensive selector over to the older style. However , the problem is that finding these parts used is pretty rare and buying them new is very expensive.

The K-Tuned conversion kit greatly simplifies this transmission swap.  Now you can keep the Civic SI shift selector and use it with the 03-07 OEM Honda Accord shifter box and shifter cables. These are very inexpensive and can be purchased from your local Honda dealer. The kit comes with a shifter mounting plate to mount the Accord shifter box in any EG, DC2 or EK chassis and a custom shifter cable bracket designed for the Accord cables. The result is a swap shifter setup that works perfectly and has better feel and accuracy over the older RSX Type-S design.

Compared to the regular shifter adapter kit with an RSX Type-S box, this application gives you over a quarter of an inch of extra clearance in the tunnel. Very valuable real estate when you are trying to squeeze a 3″ exhaust in there.

Purchasing your shifter box and cables will be around $150, and you can get them direct and brand new from Honda. Why mess around with old parts that have play in them?Honda’s part number for the box+cables combo is 54100-SDA-A01

K-Tuned Ram Style Race Header

The K-Tuned Ram Header at first glance looks like a pretty crazy design. Essentially it is a long tube header that has been pushed up into the engine bay to provide much better ground clearance. However, there is another purpose to all the turns that you are seeing. They keep the exhaust gases hot and when the exhaust is hot it moves out more quickly. So I bet your next question is, “Does it make power ?” The answer is yes. This header is definitely the top dog of K-Tuned swap headers. It beat both our K-Tuned 4-2-1 Swap header and even our 4-1Race header during dyno testing. Also when tested side by side against a header with a comparable tube length we came out ahead again.

The K-Tuned Ram Header features full 304 stainless steel construction with equal length tubing and a proven stepped design. It starts with 44mm primaries to 47mm to 50mm and finishes with a 65mm or 2.5” exit. It also uses three true merge collectors at all transitions to maximize the exhaust flow. This header has been specifically designed for both high end and midrange horsepower gains. Now for the best part, not only does this header offer excellent ground clearance and shifter box clearance it also fits both K20 and K24 engines in the DA, EG, EK and DC2 chassis. Sorry guys it does not fit the EF chassis.

Recently we have done some back to back dyno testing, comparing several of our headers to some of the more reputable competitors. We were -very- pleased with the results where we are seeing our header is right up to par with our high-end counterpart, and our brand new ram style header making massive gains over both our 4-1 style header as well as the competitors product.

K-Tuned 5th Gear Lockout Part

The oem shifter and cable system might be fine for a car going to pick up some groceries, but in a performance car this setup is definitely lacking. It is unfortunately all too common that people are missing gears with K-series transmission which can be costly.

In a stock RSX or a swapped car a mis-shift from 1-2-1 or 2-3-2 usually results in a blown motor with a big ugly hole in the block. Using feedback from our family of racers, K-Tuned has come in and developed a complete shifter system to keep the gears going where they are supposed to be.

The K-Tuned Shifter 5th Gear Lockout comes with our Shifter Billet Arm. This 100% billet aluminum arm uses a durable delrin pivot ball with much tighter clearances than stock. We also fitted the arm with a stiffer neutral return spring to help remove shifter “play” or “looseness” that people commonly complain about. Now for the tricky part, the 5th Gear Lockout is like a guide that was designed to keep the shifter going into the correct gear.

Start with a billet template that fits over the base of the oem shifter box. On this base we designed a spring loaded pin to lock the shifter out of the 5-6-R section of the shifter. By doing this the user just needs to focus on shifting to 4 corners.

However we made it with 2 settings. When setup in the release setting, 4th gear opens the shifter up for a normal shift to 5th if needed. Designed to fit all oem shifter boxes from K20A/A2/ and Z1 engines and also the EM2 Civic shifter box, this part is like an insurance policy for your engine. Street car or race car our guided 5th Gear Lockout will definitely keep your gears going in the right spot.

Nothing ruins a racing season like busting your transmission. Or worse yet, spit engine parts all over the track because of a misshift. These very expensive scenario’s can be prevented with some affordable, durable and well thought through updates to the stock shifting assembly.

We have taken a good hard look at the flawed stock shifter arm, and completely re-engineered it in billet aluminum.
Incorporated is an extremely durable delrin pivot ball with much tighter clearances than stock. We have also fitted the arm with a stiffer heat treated neutral return spring. These 3 combined parts virtually eliminate the “play” or “looseness” that is a common complaint about the stock shifter box. The result is a shifter with much improved shift accuracy and an overall “crisper feel”.

For customers on a tighter budget, we are also offering our upgraded pivot ball and upgraded return spring separately. This will retain the stock, plastic shifter arm.

K-Tuned PRO-1000 Turbo Rail
for the big thirsty boys

The K-Tuned PRO1000 Turbo Fuel Rail was designed with the serious Turbo race car in mind. Our Universal Fuel Rail handled 1000+ HP without a problem, but with the power limits of the K motor being pushed higher each season it was time to introduce something bigger. The Turbo Rail is CNC machined from 6061 aluminum and the huge ¾ inch bore is the biggest available for the K-series engine. This extremely large bore will meet the fuel demands of any high HP Turbo K engine. The rail also has a hard anodized finish that is suitable to use with any type of fuel (E85, Methanol, Alcohol) Just like our other fuel rails the PRO-1000 also has a third center port that can be used for multiple purposes.

1) Included with our fuel rail is a specially designed fitting that can be used to mount the OEM damper in the factory location. The purpose of the stock fuel pressure damper is to dampen minor fuel pressure fluctuations that are caused by the pulsing of the fuel injectors. This is known to cause small air bubbles in the rail, which can in turn starve the injectors. The pulsation damper acts as an accumulator to smooth out these pulsations, ensuring more accurate and constant fuel pressure. Some have claimed a couple HP can be gained by keeping the damper installed.

2) Our optional 6AN or 8AN center port fittings can be used to setup a dual-feed fuel system with a supply going into both ends of the rail, with a center return. A system setup this way, will have no fuel starvation concerns.

Rad Hose with Fan Switch Bung
Not just a hose anymore.

K-Tuned has made some improvements to our popular Driver Side Rad Hoses for K-swaps. After seeing some copies of our original design, we were motivated to bring something new to the table. Our lower hose has been redesigned with a built in port to hold an optional bung for an OEM rad fan switch. This optional port was added so that you no longer need to cut into the hose to install a bulky and ugly aluminum adapter. If you don’t plan to use a fan switch in the hose location, the included plug and clamp will seal the port easily. The plug can also be drilled and tapped for aux. coolant sensors if desired. Note that we still recommend installing the single wire coolant temp gauge sensor in the upper rad hose location. Made from high quality 4-ply silicone, these are designed to work with most 92-00 half size radiators that are relocated to the driver side of the engine bay. These will work with all PRB, PRC and RBC/RRC intake manifolds. No more installation headaches or messing around with universal hoses.

Billet Throttle Sensor
...the end-all to your TPS issues

The K-Tuned Billet TPS sensor was designed solve all K-series TPS problems. We’ve seen and read about the cheap Asian-made replacement units causing countless drivability problems and failures. In some cases even the OEM sensors have failed prematurely. These problems are exactly what motivated us to design a reliable replacement TPS sensor that won’t fail like the others. Successful and thorough road testing was completed on several cars to ensure that our TPS unit could withstand the vibration associated with semi-solid K-series swap mounts.

Our unit is constructed with a quality, American made, Delphi sensor that is encapsulated in a 6061 billet aluminum housing. The housing was designed with a special silicone filled pocket that gives the sensor space to float inside. The cured silicone, allows the unit to absorb the engine vibrations that typically ruin other sensors. We are so confident in our sensor that we are even offering a warranty.

This TPS unit can be mounted on any K20A/A2 and Z1 throttlebody or the A3 throttlebody from the Honda EP3 hatchback. The engine must also use KPro or AEM engine management that allows recalibration of the TPS scale. The required recalibration is very minimal and easy to do. Our TPS sensor comes complete with a new gasket, all mounting hardware, plug and pigtail to wire it in and detailed installation and recalibration instructions. If you have TPS problems, this part is exactly what you need.

Adjustable Speed Calibrator and converter
Fix your 05 and up VSS issues

The VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) on the 2005 and up K-series transmission uses a different output signal that is not compatible with the 2002 to 2004 ecu, or the original gauge cluster on many K-swapped vehicles. This means that in swap situations a converter must be used to properly display speed on the cluster. There are similar products available from other companies that are not adjustable, inaccurate or difficult to install and calibrate.

The K-Tuned Adjustable Speed Converter is perfect for anyone using a 2005 and up K-series transmission in a swapped car. The unit comes preprogrammed with calibrated settings for a 205 50/R15 tire with a 23” diameter. The overall 23” tire diameter is very common on swap vehicles. We didn’t stop there though… Our converter is also fully adjustable allowing it to be used as Adjustable Speed Calibrator for anyone who wants to dial in the cluster 100% to display the accurate speed of the vehicle.

The K-Tuned VSS converter was designed to be wired into the engine harness on the interior of the car near the ecu. Installation is very simple with only 4 wires to connect. Power, ground, speed signal input and speed signal output. The converter comes complete with install instructions plug in harness and jumper plug. This allows the unit to be easily disconnected if needed, because there is a separate wire harness that plugs into the box and the jumper plug reconnects the input and output signals back to stock.

K-Tuned also has two more speed converters available. One unit is specific to guys doing S2000 cluster swaps in cars using 02-04 transmissions. The other unit will be a general Speed Calibrator that can be used in cars with complete 02-04 transmission setups that are currently out of calibration.

K-Swap RAM Air intake

The K-Tuned Ram Air Intake is the best K-swap intake in the industry. If you want maximum power output, look no further.
This race inspired, aggressive looking intake design fits all EG, EK (EKK2 mounts only) and DC2 chassis when using our K-Tuned Passenger Side Radiator and RBC or RRC intake manifold. However, it can also be made to fit with the factory PRB / PRC manifold.
Intake pipe diameter and length is critical, so we dyno tuned this system for optimal HP gains. The piping is constructed with 3” diameter mandrel bent aluminum tubing that fits perfectly in the engine bay just in front of the transmission case. On the other end, the front mounted velocity stack air filter combo sits directly behind the front bumper grille to ensure that plenty of cold air is available.
For track days you can choose to remove the air filter for maximum air flow. An open V-stack has been shown to offer a slight increase mph on drag race applications.
The system includes our K-Tuned Velocity Coupler, 3” straight coupler, V-stack air filter combo and clamps.

OEM Sensors for K power

Getting the proper sensors for your swap always proves to be a challenge for the swap guys. If you’re boosting, that complicates things even more. From now on, you can get your sensors right here. For our boosted buddies we also have a 2.8 Bar MAP sensor, ready to go.

Coolant Temp Sensor -
This simple sensor is needed on all K-swapped EF, EG, EK and DC2 chassis. It allows the coolant temperature reading to be properly displayed on the dash gauge cluster. Be sure to pick up our K-Tuned coolant temp sensor adapter so the sensor can be installed easily in the upper coolant neck.

RSX Fan switch -
The OEM RSX fan switch is used to control the rad fan on your swapped vehicle.
The sensor fits either an RSX or EP3 radiator, the K-Tuned swivel neck housing or an adapter in the lower coolant hose.
